If you are in Old Town Louisville on the next First Friday don’t miss the celebration of art at the co-op. Artists in the Clay Art Pottery co-op use their big new pottery studio at 917 Front Street in Louisville at the Art Underground, to make ART every moment they can spare from their busy lives — 24/7. Most of the artists have other jobs and sharing a studio to do art with friends is a dream come true. That’s why we celebrate and you’re invited to the celebration. Our 13 member artists are from Louisiville, Lafayette, Boulder, Broomfield and Arvada. Most of us make art for ourselves and our own friends and families throughout the year because we love art. This month coming up on December 2nd — we are having a sale. This is a rare opportunity us to buy each other’s work and for the community to see and purchase gifts — choose one of our totally awesome unique one of a kind creations.

Posters by Javier González
Javier has been doing posters since 1989 for acts large and small.
Mostly a self-taught artist, Javier began doing posters again in 2009
after over a decade hiatus. As you can see, influences include posters
from the psychedelic era, Mayan designs, and Pop Art, among other
things.
Mónica Pesántez
Mónica is an active painter in the Boulder scene having exhibited in various galleries, art co-ops and coffee shops in the area as well as working with interior designers. Her vibrant colors are unparalleled in contemporary painting. Drawing inspiration from organic forms, dance (another of her passions) and introspective imagery, her colors evoke positivity and depth in a gamut of hues.

I just wrote a thank you note to the City of Louisville for everything they did to provide such a fantastic venue for the arts, for artists and for the community yesterday. The Steinbaugh and the library parking lot were just right. Every single person at the City made the complicated process of doing all the paperwork as friendly and smooth as they could. The crowd was pretty big for a second annual event thanks to everyone who invited everyone on their lists, posted to facebook, called the newspapers. We used newspapers, radio, flyers, posters and had lots of viral marketing. Janet Russel of Creative Framing did a great job of getting local businesses involved in supporting the event. Lori Jones of the Art Underground did a ton of work, gave money, time, and most importantly has kept the vision of an annual ArtsFest going strong for years.
It was such a perfect day yesterday. We had 30 artist participate and an art show in the library, workshops — poetry, voice and eurythmics. We had a community canvas painting of downtown Louisville (Jane Whittesey) that was crowded with participants throughout the event. The sidewalk chalk art event (by Christy Bernat and Connie McGinley) on the corner of Walnut and Front did a big cooperative chalk painting of Starry Night and freeform chalking with community participation. The Boulder Folders origami paper folding booth (Faith Gowan) was bustling with crowds the whole time. The kids art booth (Lori Jones) was busy. Lots of people gathered round the ClayArt pottery wheel throughout the day and evening. The Flatirons Jazz band was the perfect accompaniment to the day and I heard at least 10 people tell me how great they were for the afternoon. The Zumba dancers from Synergy Fitness were just awesome. A lot of the artists did pretty well in sales and art participation activities.
We did have a winner of our Louisville Idol contest run by DanaVMusic this year. The finalist sang a beautiful song that brought tears to the audience. Andy Williams of the Louisville Farmers Market did a fantastic job of sound design, MC and being the buoyant voice of ArtsFest.
It turned out to be a big art party yesterday. Artists and the community got together, to enjoy the last days of summer, hang out and make and appreciate art — very Louisville.
